Nr 5: Better 2Gether

Image
Better 2Gether is a love to meet group from my church Mozaiek020 . We meet every first Tuesday of the month for a nice meal. Playing games and especially talking and laughing with each other. I wanted to make a mosaic of it at first, but that was too difficult. I did a small piece at the bottom left, but I quickly let that go. The numbers 020 are also included, which refers to Mozaiek020 The groups that exist are called Love2meet groups, which I have depicted with a heart, the number 2 and the word meet. The cross is the church. It didn't turn out what I had in mind, but hey, it was good to try. Still 19,995 paintings to go 😆😆 Products I have used are:  Daler Rowney  canvas board 20x20 cm Oil paint by van Gogh and Rembrandt.

Nr 4: A cup with two fruits

Image
Painting 4 is also an exercise I did with  Forza43  Paint Coach. A cup with two fruits.  This time I drew this under drawing with a pencil.  Then fixed with a spray so that it does not fade.  I like this way rather than drawing directly with paint.  That goes wrong faster.  Too thick or too big and I don't have that problem with a pencil.  I can't get the color purple mixed well so I ended up using it from the tube.  Sometimes you have to make it easy on yourself.  On the example of the paint coach it was a wide panel so I made the cup narrower to achieve the same effect.  Even Henk thinks it turned out well and he usually has a critical view of my work. Still 19,996 paintings to go 😆😆 Products I have used are:  Daler Rowney  canvas board 20x20 cm Oil paint by van Gogh and Rembrandt  This time I only used Titanium white, Ultramarine blue, purple and Cadmium light yellow. Gamsol.

Nr 3: Forms

Painting 3 is an exercise I did with  Forza43  Paint Coach. Four shapes, a cylinder, a ball, a cube and a triangle.  I paid the most attention to the reflection of the light in the table and the shadows, and I think it turned out well myself. What I still struggle with is mixing the right color and tone of the color. I always find it very difficult to put my signature on a painting. Sometimes I see very nice signatures from other artists, and then I wish I could do that too. With me, it always turns out much thicker and bigger than I planned. Now I've figured out that I'll just put an anchor in the bottom right corner. Not too big, but a kind of signature. I put these 4 details on the back anyway: the number of the painting and the name of the painting, the date and my name. Still 19,997 paintings to go 😆😆 Products I have used are: Daler Rowney  canvas board 24x30 cm Oil paint by van Gogh  This time I only used Titanium white 105, Ultramarine blue 504, Cadmium...

Nr 2: Bright colors

Image
My second (little) painting, this time a colorful scene that I made up on the spot. Lots of colors on top of each other. It's nice for me to learn if this is going well and if the colors don't mix and become a dirty mess. It now looks quite big on the picture, but the canvas board is only 10x10cm. The lines are therefore quite thin. Especially in the orange e yellow area. I still have 19,998 attempts to go 😆 Products I have used are: Claire Fontaine canvas board 10x10 cm Oil paint by van Gogh and Rembrandt. Liquin and Gamsol.

Nr 1: Parakeets

Image
My first painting for this blog is of course very special. It's just very disappointing to me because it didn't go well at all. The branches got too thick, and I couldn't get the heads of the birds done right. I even wiped it off completely. You can clearly see that the middle one doesn't come into its own. The left one is very thick and that gave it a bit more spring feel. The judge has become much too fat and no longer looks like a parakeet. Nice exercise, but this time it was more like smearing green paint on a canvas board. I still have 19,999 attempts to go 😆😆 Products I used are: Royal Talens canvas board premium quality 20x20 cm 280g/m2 Oil paint by van Gogh and Rembrandt. Liquin, Gamsol.

My 20.000 paintings

Image
My daily painting challenge has come through Carol Marine's book Daily Painting.  It is about frequent painting and because you do it a lot your art changes and improves.  Why did I call this Blog my 20,000 paintings?  Of course, I didn't make that many.  At most about 10. And spread over many years. On January 22, 2023 I saw that it would take another 20,000 days before I would turn 100 years old and that is now my challenge.  Painting and drawing so much that I made 20,000 paintings (and drawings) by my 100th birthday.  The chance that I will achieve this and that I can also grow that old is quite small.  It is therefore more about getting closer with every painting I make.  Step-by-step.  Getting closer to 20.000 and get better at drawing and painting. Every week I will post a blog to show you what I have made. For now, I will first go on vacation for a week and start with my challenge on May 8, 2023. Every painting or drawing, no ma...
